We all love to talk passionately about how important education is for our children. We want the best education for them. If you don’t have children, think about how they will grow into the adults that will work alongside you or become our future doctors and decision makers. Imagine feeling confident that our future healthcare workers and city politicians were well educated as CUSD students. We also know that budgetary cuts have left Arizona schools in a tight financial pinch. Arizona ranks at the very bottom for per pupil spending, general funding, and teacher pay. Are we willing to bridge the gap between those two facts? I am completely on board with passing the CUSD override- it will continue to make up the shortfall between state funding and great education in the classroom. This override will go directly into the classrooms- reaching the students for whom we want to ensure a bright future. It is a continuation of an existing override. Not a new tax, a continuation of a tax already in action, it can greatly impact kids every day between now and 2025. Be passionate, stand behind the children of CUSD, and vote to continue the education budget override.
